Azure River
The Azure River starts to the South-West of Solar Dale and serves as the primary source of water for the local predominantly deciduous forests, of course aside from the Gota de Agua lake. It falls into the ocean to the North-East of the capital city, serving as the major transport arteria for several small research and prospecting settlements in the area. Along both of its banks, there are several gardens where farmers from Solar Dale suburbs collect grape-apples and hexagon flowers for both domestic consumption and export to the Old World.
During the Spring season, azure kingfishers leave the river looking for armor seeds that they gulp to clean their digestion systems once a year. These seeds are produced by rare moss found only at the foothills of the Twisted Chain mountains. The Green Grove members and Tinkers follow the birds hoping to claim seeds for their needs. The notorious biologists use them to produce medicine, and Tinker's guilds process seeds to create unbreakable cogs for small mechanisms that operate in harsh conditions.
Explorers found a few odd whirlpools a few feet in diameter each in a few places along the Azure River. It is believed that they lead to underground lakes. It is unclear why a whirlpool may suddenly start spinning in a different direction. They say that Bounty Blades tried fishing in one of them and caught a very unusual specimen. But nobody can confirm this rumor, as the weird fish was never shown to the broader public, nor did it end up in any of the labs.
There is a so-called crystal bush to the East of Solar Dale, where the forests are not so dense. This relatively dry area is the primary source for the tiniest solar crystals. The average crystal of pale yellow color is the size of a cherry. It takes at least ten of them and a pint of green goo from the Jade Well to initiate a controlled reaction that produces electricity. Generally being of lower value than much larger crystals growing in the jungles, bush crystals are easier to find and take no time to deliver to Solar Dale.
There are a few wineries to the North of crystal bush, on the bank of the Azure River, a couple of dozen miles before the place where it falls into the ocean. Their products are daringly different from what they grow in the Old World. Still, a couple of Pandorah brands managed to win some awards overseas. And, of course, the major rivals of Solar Dale wineries are not on the other side of the ocean but on the other side of the Twisted Chain mountains, in the suburbs of Crimson Rock.
