Green Fort
The Old World has lost its charm for explorers. Now, there is no single unmapped territory and probably very few undiscovered species to be added to the long books on flora and fauna. There, young scientists can only sit in libraries for hundreds of hours, learning about the discoveries made by hundreds and hundreds of their renowned predecessors over a few millennia. Real discovery has turned into a unicorn hunt that nobody would dare to undertake without a high chance of failure.
Away from the royal academia! Away from legions of home-grown 'professors' who plague universities and produce useless catalogs and books based on the hard work of the older generations! There is little fun in standing on the shoulders of giants. And so, the most daring scientists ventured to Pandora, seeking to rejoice in discoveries.
Upon arrival in Solar Dale, many were happy enough to simply look around and see hundreds of new plants and animals. At the same time, some felt the need to go deep into forests, hoping to find something genuinely remarkable there. The few with a rare combination of research and social skills got substantial funding from the Profit Priests to organize long expeditions and even found their tiny settlements.
Karlos Alvarez is the most remarkable of this rare breed. He was both talented and lucky enough to get the money for and survive through the most extended expedition in the history of Pandora. He ended up over a thousand miles to the North-West of Solar Dale, even beating the founders of Jade Well. His small 'colony' of a couple of sheds and a two-story wooden house is known as Green Fort.
It is unknown what made Karlos travel through virgin jungles for months. Some say that he has always had good relations with the Bounty Blades who always know interesting rumors and have access to other sorts of peculiar information. His research results have never been disclosed to the broad public. But they say in the streets that he discovered fungi that greatly enhance mental capabilities for a brief period.
Whether the above is true or not, Green Fort remains the most distant settlement with no safe routes leading to it. And there is something of great value that has kept top-tier biologists busy for years. Probably, Sarika Ivy knows more about the expedition than she agrees to disclose during the Council sessions.
